This Dublin, Ohio client worked with Senior Designer Trish Takacs of Kitchen Kraft to redesign her laundry room into a mudroom. The client’s family had grown and the current laundry room was short on storage and did not meet her family’s needs. There was a need for much more storage for coats, shoes and cleaning supplies. The current space also housed a doggy shower that the client also needed to have incorporated into the space.
Takacs knew this design would be challenging, but was also intrigued by the project. She began with the laundry space. The client wanted to keep her current units. The current space had three cabinets and a good amount of wall space that could house more storage. There was no sink for laundry needs and the client agreed that would be a welcome addition to her laundry routine. The last plumbing item was the doggy shower. The original shower was encased in metal and did not tie into the design of the rest of the home.
Takacs set to work on a design that incorporated all of the elements. The metal doggy shower was replaced with a tiled walk-in shower. Between the shower and the washer and dryer, a sink was added for everyday use. A granite countertop was run along the top of the washer and dryer for folding convenience. Additional storage was added above the laundry units. The opposite wall featured two tall storage units and hooks for coats. A bench ran below the hooks with shoe storage below. The final design gave the client everything on her wishlist, and more.
